How policy and service systems shape people’s real opportunities

I am a social policy researcher with extensive expertise in how employment, health and welfare policies and service systems shape health and employment trajectories. I have strong methodological competence in causal inference using population registers, including causal longitudinal designs and target trial emulation. I regularly apply a mixed-methods approach, including drawing on qualitative case studies to examine the sustainment and governance of complex evidence-based interventions.

I am a University Lecturer in Social and Public Policy at the University of Helsinki and a Senior Research Fellow in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tampere University, Finland, with a 50/50 split between the two positions.
